Two beats, One heart

It all happened on a starry Sunday,

Long ago in the month of May,
I t was so hot n sweaty n soaking,
When Krishna said the three words,
I thought he was joking.

It hit me like an arrow out of the blue,
My best friend had just said ‘I love you’,
I had looked for a sweetheart under box and broom,
The last place I expected to find him, was right across the room,
What should I do now? My heart began to flip,
This classmate of mine is asking me to be a part of his trip!

Cupid had struck us I could not deny,
Our future got engraved in that blink of an eye,
The case was hopeless; it was useless to plead,
Dear Cupid had in a farce sown the seed.

And so here we are on the verge of the morrow,
Promising each other through good times and sorrow,
To be by each other's side till death do us apart,
Two sides of a coin, two beats, one heart.

*This poem was penned at the time we sent out our wedding invitations to let the curious ones know how it all came about :)
